A Little About Me
ADK Creative Works grew from something I've loved for more than 30 years — helping people discover that they really can create.
I'm Sue, an artist and painting instructor in the foothills of the Adirondacks. Over the years, I've taught hundreds of people to paint, from complete beginners who haven't held a paintbrush since grade school to experienced crafters simply looking for something new.
Today, ADK Creative Works has grown into a creative community with in-person classes and events at my Glens Falls studio, private paint parties and community programs, plus beginner-friendly painting projects people can enjoy from home.
My favorite part is still the same: watching someone look at what they created and say,
“I can't believe I painted that!”
How It All Started
My painting journey began when my oldest child was a newborn. I was looking for something quiet and creative to do during nap time — and once I picked up a paintbrush, I was hooked.
What started as a hobby grew into years of painting, creating, selling my work and eventually teaching others. I discovered that what I loved most wasn't simply making art — it was helping someone else realize they could make it, too.
Over the years, ADK Creative Works has taken me in directions I never expected. One of my first Etsy orders traveled all the way to Italy, another went to Canada, and even my online membership has connected me with painters far beyond the Adirondacks.
And somehow, something I started during nap time more than 30 years ago is still growing. ❤️

And through ADK Creative Works HQ, members can explore a growing online Vault filled with painting designs, tracers and instructions whenever inspiration strikes.
Whether you're picking up a brush for the first time or you've been creating for years, you're welcome here.
